The Q File
A password-protected document on Claire's laptop.
The morning after the welcome party, Claire opens a new password-protected document and titles it Q. Her first list reads: Name: Quinn Calloway. Age: Approximately early thirties. Digital footprint: Minimal. Suspicious. The last line says "Watches Tom." She deletes it, then types it again.

The file grows to four pages of times, patterns, and anomalies. Entries include "Sarah had a sister," "She has the journal," and "She does not have me." After the lamb dinner she writes that Tom doesn't know and the gap is still open. By the last chapter she no longer opens Q. She starts a new, untitled list of five small slights from the neighbors, the same way Sarah once kept her column.
