One brown-capped tube from the year Sarah died sits hidden among the newest work. Inside is a drawing of a small house with no client and no lot: two bedrooms, a long kitchen with a window over the sink, and a front porch. The second bedroom was for Beth, whenever she wanted it. Rolled inside is a sealed envelope with one word on the front, "Sarah."
Quinn takes the envelope during dinner at Tom's (Chapter 26) and reads it at 1:40 in the morning (Chapter 27). Tom wrote it the day before he married Claire. It says he saw what Claire was doing to Sarah, helped her, and wanted Claire more. Quinn keeps it in the photo frame with Sarah's last pages. Tom tells her to keep it: "It was always hers."
